This exhibition shows the new artworks by Yu YOKOI(b.1983,Shiga,Japan) . He has ever focused on the movements of the objects he selected as motifs and the time scale caused by them. Various things - eggs, narutomakis(minced fish), dried small sardines, or a light-signboard for soft serve ice cream - are artificially revolved at high speed or vibrated in a subtle way by a motor. In another work, an adhesive tape put high on the wall, or mayonnaise in the plastic bottles turned upside down on falls naturally according to the gravitational pull. In addition to the presentation of these features of his former pieces, he is going to play some tricks in and around the gallery in this exhibition. So, I hope you will enjoy his creations, especially the ones that are specific to site. YOKOI Yu * The text provided by GALLERY IND. Period: Friday November 4 – Sunday 27, 2011 |
