Junepi Omori had studied ceramics at KYOTO SEIKA UNIVERSITY and he won the first prize of Montblanc’s Young Artist Patronage project in Japan last year.

Omori who used to make simple ceramic pieces with black clay has recently found his passion in decorative ceramic pots from Japanese prehistorial time, Jomon era, because of its dramatic forms and dynamic expression.

“People from Jomon era knew that the mythical power of soil and they used it to create ornamental items for the religious ceremonies, describing their hopes for prosperity. It is an overwhelming experience for me to look at those objects after more than ten thousands years. Thus I decided to recreate Jomon ceramics with contemporary profiles in vivid colors to present my hope to our age.”

Junpei Omori’s new ceramic works are now ready to show. “Cord Chord Code” is going to start from 4th of February at Showcase.
