Opened on the tenth floor of Aichi Art Cultural Center in 1992, this was formerly known as the Aichi Prefecture Lyceum Museum, which opened in 1955.

The exhibition space is divided into two sections: one for project exhibitions, the other for collection exhibitions. Collections are either Japanese works or 20th century international art works, including works by Picasso, Klimt, Paul Klee, Morris Louis, and Frank Stella, along with German Expressionist paintings and sculpture, Surrealist paintings, and American postwar art. As for its domestic art, there are Japanese style paintings by Shunso Hishidasuchi, and oil paintings by Yuichi Takahashi, together with a collection by Teiso Kimura, a local art collector, and a modern era cract work collection produced by Tatsukichi Fujii.

Special exhibitions introduce contemporary and modern works from overseas. Events such as gallery toques/talks??? guided by museum staff are also held along with each exhibition. As there is also an art library, a rental gallery, a rental hall, and an information center besides the museum itself, the facilities can be enjoyed all day long.
