Opened in October 1985, in Nerima, Tokyo, Nerima Art Museum has collected a number of excellent art works of western-style painting and avant-garde art in Japan as well as works of the artists associated with Nerima Ward. Not only exhibiting and keeping the collection, it is also used for a wide-range of cultural activities including renting out its exhibition space and holding art lectures, with the aim of the inhabitants' understanding to the art and participation.

Nerima Art Museum also introduces the art from various aspects such as the special exhibition series "Art in Nerima" which introduces trends in contemporary art from a regional aspect, as well as "Techniques in Contemporary art" which aims to introduce the contemporary art clearly and simply, and a "Modern Suibokuga" series that introduces artists who are sincerely inquiring into the possibility of various expressions in the sumi media.
