Opened in Meguro-ku, Tokyo in October of 2007, YUKARI ART CONTEMPORARY is a budding and spirited gallery that handles young artists who were born in the 70s and 80s. Though it is located far from the center of Tokyo, its global activity is remarkable and it takes part in domestic and foreign art fairs. In the last decade, many galleries that were originally in the Ginza or Aoyama districts, diffused to small towns or suburbs. With this move the artistic heart of the area started declining, and along with this the vigor of young emerging artists also began disappearing. This represented a change in the cultural structure in which only big cities functioned as centers of culture. An environment in which our daily life meets contemporary art in local towns was created. It may be a natural to wish to enjoy art in our everyday life, and YUKARI ART is a gallery that shows the change. Its artists all project positive energy and their high-level techniques and sensibility can provide stimulation in our daily life. Among the represented artists are Shintaro Ohata, Kou Igarashi, Enpei Ito, Yoshitake Nanjo, Taihei Shii, Akira Yoshida, Shiori Kawamoto, Kazuharu Ishikawa, Hiroki Tashiro, and Yodogawa Technique.

The gallery name was changed from YUKARI ART CONTEMPORARY to YUKARI ART in November of 2011.
