Opened in October, 2003 on the 53rd floor of Tokyo Roppongi Hills, Mori tower, MORI ART MUSEUM made the news when it invited English person, David Eliot, as the first foreign museum director in Japan. The exhibition space, which has a height of about 230m, has the highest ceiling among the museums in Japan, and was designed by one of the most famous museum designers in the world, Richard Gluckman. MORI ART MUSEUM holds project exhibitions of paintings, sculpture, constructions, fashion, and installations centering on contemporary art from all over the world, and is acknowledged for its policy of attempting to show contemporary art in a variety of ways. Their special exhibitions frequently become hot topics because of the way they overturn common perceptions.
