The hot-spring hotel with a long history established in 1551, Itamuro Onsen Daikokuya, is also known for its unique business style which enthusiastically incorporates contemporary art. The excellent contemporary art works are exhibited in various places inside and outside the hotel, embodying their concept "Hotel for recuperation and art". As seen in the delicate arrangements that create the best exhibitions of individual work, and the substitution according to the season, they create the chance to fuse daily life with beauty. In the monthly planned exhibition, they introduce established and emerging artists of all genres, and make full use of the internal and external hotel space for the exhibition. Moreover, the huge collection of work by Kishio Suga has been opened to the public in the "Warehouse museum", constructed in 2008 using silt from the hot spring. The "Daikokuya Public Exhibition of Contemporary Art" has been held every year since 2005 and has many applicants from inside and outside the country. It is greatly acclaimed for providing visitors with a chance to discover talented young artists for the next generation.
