One of the final exhibitions held in Yamaguchi Gallery which will be close in the end of this month, is this solo exhibition by Hiina Tochihara. There are an abstract oil painting drawn by sketch and a painting of a character named “COCKY” displayed next to each other. The outlooks on the world of each painting are quite different, and it is not possible to think each work to be production by the same person at all. However this gap might realistically reflect the situation of the contemporary art. It seems an exactly symbolical event that first private exhibition which is the only one event in the artist’s life, is held in the final exhibition for this gallery, ironically as if to reflect situation to the double character of Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde.
