Galerie Tokyo Humanité is pleased to announce a solo exhibition of INOUE Masayuki’s new works in commemoration of Tama Art University retirement. Inoue is one of the leading figures in the field of large-scale ceramic sculptures in which he assembles small parts with bolts and build up an enormous sculpture with an organic form. Besides his career as an artist, he has taught at his alma mater as a professor of crafts for many years and is retiring next spring.

In June, Inoue’s retrospective exhibition will be held at Ibaraki Ceramic Art Museum in Japan. From the early works he made when he was a student to the latest works, approximately 65 works will be exhibited.

Inoue (b. 1957) earned M.A. in art from Tama Art University in Tokyo in 1985. His solo exhibition history in museums includes Hagi Uragami Museum, Yamaguchi (2015), The Museum of Ceramic Art, Hyogo (2015), and INAX Tile Museum, Aichi (2001). His works are collected by numerous museums including National Crafts Museum in Kanazawa, Japan, National Museum of History in Taipei, Victoria and Albert Museum in London, Princessehof National Museum of Ceramics in the Netherlands, among others. In 2017, he won the grand prize at Japan Ceramic Art Exhibition.
