The term ‘Generation Z’ has become a popular word. This is a generation that has grown up taking for granted the fact that they are digital natives, that they have access to all kinds of information on a single smartphone, they are connected to others through social networking services, and that their entire life would not be possible without the internet.
However, the beginning of the 21st century, when Generation Z was growing up, was not only a time of digital technology, but also a time of rapid changes in all aspects of society such as the global environmental crisis, the restructuring of international relations, the widening economic disparities, and the changing values of gender and minorities.
And now, in the realm of artistic expression, the Generation Z is beginning to make a strong statement. How will the world they have seen, the things they have felt and the things they have thought be expressed in their works? We hope that this exhibition will give the audience a sense of hope for art in the 21st century.
