" Work 19-2 " silkscreen on paper,panel 710x690mm 2019

Fukumura Kimio dares to set his own unwavering rules for the content of the picture plane, which paradoxically allows him gain infinite possibilities and freedom of painting.
He begins by filling the entire screen with identical circular chips to create a ‘ground’ from which he gradually creates a picture by replacing each chip with a different colour. The creation of the image is produced as a growth of cubic illusions created by the angles between the particles inherent in the system, or as a hexagonal crystalline body made up of one centre and the surrounding chips.
The will towards the strictness of the system is inextricably balanced with the pleasure of creating images, and the lightness of the colour contrasts creates a beautiful illusion that invites our imagination to explore the wonders of how the world came to be, from the grand universe to the smallest of things.
