Opened in November of 1995, Toyota Municipal Museum of Art is constructed on a hill where Koromo Castle used to be, near the central area of Toyota City, Aichi. It is also famous as the highest masterpiece of the architect, Yoshio Taniguchi. Toyota Municipal Museum of Art collected a number of remarkable masterpieces during the 20th century, starting from 20th century Japanese style paintings, the Arts and Crafts Movement, the Vienna schismatic, Bauhaus, and Surrealism, to the contemporary works of today. It is also known as an enthusiastic exhibitor of contemporary art on a nationwide scale. Moreover, it has an annex where the lacquer works of the prominent artist, Setsuro Takahashi, are stored and exhibited.
