Wang Linan exhibition ” Forms of Rhythms ”
Events
Published: September 13 2021

From exhibition works, " The front of the back " lacquer, hemp cloth 75×42×34cm 2020

Wang uses dry lacquer technique to express the forms of flowing objects in the air such as water vapour and smoky mist, and the inner world of ‘self’ emerged from them. By moulding the surface of the clay forms a relationship between the ‘front’ and the ‘back’ is created. The ‘front’ is the beauty of nature that can be visualised by the artist, while the ‘back’ symbolises the inner world of the original clay, the world of self-reflection. The rhythms of nature and the inner rhythms of ‘self’ come together to form a smooth and rippling jet-black form.
