From exhibition works. " Each One’s Story " Old shoes, silicon

Anri Ikeda’s work is based on the themes of ‘loss’ and ‘return’, inspired by the painful memories of losing his body parts because of illness he experienced as a young boy and witnessing the deaths of newborn child in hospital. The human skin grows and changes over time, constantly repeating loss and renewal. The clothes and furniture that deteriorate and change along with this fact seem to become ourself by wearing our bodily memories. In this exhibition the artist returns the skin of the person by molding it to the objects that are about to be thrown away because they have lost their connection with the person, and brings them back to life as ‘each one’s story’.
