Yuki Hashimoto: from "Songs of Visitors from Another World", 2021

eitoeiko is pleased to announce a solo exhibition by Yuki Hashimoto with eitoeiko.Yuki Hashimoto(b.1988, Aichi) received his B.A. of printmaking from Musashino Art University in 2011 and received his B.A. in ceramics from Tama Art University in 2013. Hashimoto selected 21th Taro Award Exhibition in 2018. The artist exhibited his artworks in Tokyo, Torrance, New York, and Macau. Also Hashimoto has selected one of the members of the program of overseas study for upcoming artists by the Agency for Cultural Affairs in Japan and will go to study in Israeli, 2021.
The artist’s recent studies include unseen spirituality of butoh and folk religions in postmodern society. Hashimoto handles residuum of information, such as broken smartphones and SIM cards, and he makes it to mystical objects with natural stones, resin. The artist discovered the similar shape of the mandara of Minakata from the cracks in the surfaces of iphones. The resemblance is a keywords of a relationship between the ancient Japanese divination and the Western latest culture. This exhibition shows his timeless cultural voyage in sculptural object, sumi-print artwork and others.
