From exhibition works

Ryo Ogawa believes that everything has its ‘energy-Ki’ within itself, and by this overflowing ‘energy’ all the existences are to connect with each other. He says this is the nature of the universe. He discovered he has inherited his blood from Korean people who were living in Japan. So he has visited famous Sakuramoto-town in Kawasaki where there are a lot of Korean people living and are against Japanese racism. He says that his soul was fiercely moved by experiencing those people’s painful history as he could feel the overflowing ‘energy’ -even from the flowers and old houses- of people who have lived there all those times. And he realized that he himself was also an existence that could connect things. For him artistic expressions are the ways to connect things, and this fact has led him to his first solo exhibition.
