From exhibition work (a part)

‘Why do I choose stones as carving material?’ Atsuya Ishida looks for the deepest inner place where his work impulse finds himself instead of trying to find the meaning of his work in society or positioning it in art history as an outer result. In order to try objectifying his own desire, he deliberately used different element to intervene in his work. He has faced chaos as the result of going ahead with this inward direction. Going through this chaos it actually enabled him relativise ‘stones’ which have always been swallowing his ego’s impulse. And he has experienced the diversification that this society is facing and the aspect of uncertainty of carving.
