Opened in Ginza in 1984 as a Tokyo branch of the Galerie Humanité which had its headquarters in Nagoya at that time. Galerie Tokyo Humanité introduces mainly Japanese contemporary art by representing artists such as Hiroji Noda, Kiyoshi Kawashima, Takahiko Hayashi, Manika Nagare as well as internationally known artists such as Mitsuo Kano, Shin Miyazaki and Tatsuo Ikeda. It organizes the "humanite lab" project which is an experimental outlet for students and young artists, and introduces young artists such as Haruna Tokimatsu, Natsumi Tomita and Yutaka Mukoyama through exhibitions. It is also devoted to introducing its artists worldwide as well as wide-generation by participating in art fairs in Asia and organizing exchange exhibitions with other art galleries.
