Opened in Higashi-Kanda, Tokyo in 2007 by the publisher "FOIL", which publishes a number of books in the field of contemporary art. One such book is 'FOIL', which is composed only of visual images and was published for the first time in Japan in 2007, relocated to Kyoto in August of 2011.
FOIL GALLERY shows contemporary art from a different angle, and with the purpose of providing an experience that helps one to understand the depth of art, through an exhibition that synchronizes original work and associated publications. It is also planning a project exhibition of young domestic and foreign artists in the form of the event "Night of bringing in" held every month.
FOIL GALLERY has joined to Paris Photo in 2008. Among the represented artists are Syoin Kajii, Rinko Kawauchi, Aya Saito, Risa Sato, Jun Tsunoda, Yoichi Nagano and Jodie Vicenta Jacobson.
