Opened in Kyoto Hotel Annex (currently called Kyoto Hotel Okura) in 1990 and moved to Kawabata-Marutamachi near Heian Jingu Shrine in 1996, opened the Tokyo branch in October of 2010, IMURA ART GALLERY is acclaimed as one of the pioneer galleries of contemporary art in Kyoto.
It has wide overseas connections and thus introduces domestic art internationally. In the gallery area which has a wide-open space with a glass-window forming the entire entrance wall, there is a permanent exhibition of their represented artists as well as a project exhibition.
Among the represented artists are Noriyuki NAKAYAMA, Taro YAMAMOTO, Natsunosuke MISE, Yu HANABUSA, Hiroki YASUTOMI, Yura OTA, Syoh YOSHIDA, Kaori WATANABE, Sangsun BAE, Koujirou TAKAKUWA, Ai RYUMON, Takashi HINODA, Fumio YAMAZAKI, Jumpei UEDA, Hideki KIMURA, Etsuko KAWAMURA, Harumi YAHATA, Yasuko IBA and Etsuko TASHIMA.
