Opened in January 2008 in Nishi-Tenman, Osaka, YOD Gallery is a gallery which attempts to search for a sense of values common all over the world from domestic and overseas artists and their works, and to turn it to the world at the time of the globalization tend in the art expression. As a primary gallery of contemporary art in Japan, the gallery is also making efforts to review Japanese identity and introduce artists with original views of art and their work.

Osaka was known as a city which maintained the sense of beauty called “Kamigata culture” and exported this to various places over Japan. Its neighboring cities such as Kyoto and Nara have also continued producing a new sense of values on art while flexibly accepting Western thought and culture but never being biased to either. However, these days culture and information in Japan has become Tokyo-centric. The YOD Gallery functions as a place which presents various senses of values on art from all over the world.

Among the represented artists are Issay Kitagawa, Natsuki Machida, Nobuo Sekine, Sakurako Hamaguchi, Hintobi (Issay Kitagawa＋Kenshu Shintsubo), Takuro Sugiyama, Ken Kagajo, Agathe de Bailliencourt, Masashi Hattori, and Kounosuke Kawakami.
