His last exhibition in kyoto was held two years before, and when it comes to our gallery, his last exhibition was about three years ago.

NipponGa is
Art that expresses the present situation of Japan directly.
Art that has a Japanese traditional style of humor called "KAIGYAKU".
Art using the traditional painting techniques in Japan.

Taro Yamamoto draws "NipponGa" which is different from Nihonga (Japanese painting). "NipponGa"is restructured from a modern point of view against traditional Nihonga.

In recent years, he tries to take in some elements of narrative to such kind of his works. Narrative – it is not his own experience nor creation, it is japanease classical literature in japan. In classical literature which have been overed many ages, there are many things so universal for human life.

On the other hand, we can see peculiar character that culture and thought of different period have piled up as a strutam by repeated quatation. Now we can find many classic paintings fundamentally based on such classical literature or waka(classic Japanese poem)and so on.

This exhibition -the classics- have traveled around Nagoya,Tokyo,Kanazawa in 2010. Now we are going to hold exhibition -the classics- at Imura art gallery Kyoto. The subtitle is – cherry .This exhibition has two large works which took motif from Noh song「Sakuragawa」and「Sumidagawa」, new works ,the title is 「Yuuraku」which depict a scene of ohanami(cherry blossom viewing) from the tale of Genji and some new small size of works.

In opening reception, we will hold live paformance with traditional Japanease musical instruments as if we could enjoy ohanami earlier than usual.

Now we are happy to entertain you with classical literature and "NipponGa" appearing together.
