ジェレミー・ディッキンソンは1963年イギリス生まれ。1986年にゴールドスミス・カレッジを卒業、現在もロンドンを拠点に制作を行っています。ヨーロッパやアメリカ各地で個展を開催し、小山登美夫ギャラリーでは５度目の個展となります。彼は子供の頃から蒐集してきたミニカーを主なモチーフに描きます。モデルカー、トラック、路線バスやスクールバス、電車などのミニカーが子供が遊ぶように配置される様は、幼い頃の記憶を思い起こさせ、また車窓に映り込んだ風景や日差し、キズや剥落など細部の克明な描写からは作家とモチーフの共有した時間が読み取れると同時にイギリスが伝統的に持っている物への愛情、暖かさを感じられるでしょう。一方背景は常に無地で塗られ、モチーフの色彩と連動しそれを照らす光となって見る者の想像力を掻き立てます。過去の記憶を新しい想像の世界へ変化させる彼の作品をぜひご高覧下さい。
