KOYAMA MIZUHO has studied traditional Japanese calligraphy for a long time under Kuwahara Suiho who is a master of Japanese calligraphy in Showa period. After that she creates own style that is constructed by geometric and architectural approach of words and characters. Mainly her works are inspired from old poetry as MANYOUSHU (The Anthology of Myriad [Ten Thousand] Leaves). She takes words and characters out of the poem, then she designs image by her explication, put the stuffs out and into her new one accurately. The works are old - new as her action is something like work that she creates new buildings from stuff of old relics. It's often said that nothing is perfect new creation in contemporary art world, everything are found, get reconsidered, it become even more complex as civilization progresses. Old words that are hard to use these days are civilization and culture of cutting-edge at the time. The words of Ancient human are come back by figurative images of Koyama Mizuho. Since 2008, her works got a great feedback the opportunity that the works are exhibited in international Art fairs. In 2010, solo exhibition of her was held in Saratoga, U.S.A. .In 2013 solo exhibition will be held at Galleries in Tokyo and New York.
