ITO Rina creates her artwork using her own bodily materials (i.e. human hair) to emphasize her internal organ motifs and concepts, creating connections and implications of deep physiological emotions in her pieces. In the 2007 group exhibition 'Futariten' at Space Plus Gallery (formally known as Purasu) Ito created an installation that absorbed the entire area, appearing as though it has been disfigured by an organic swarm. She peeled back the wood flooring of the Gallery to reveal a mucilaginous latex skin with golden hair growing down from it. Ito is currently working on her upcoming project, that involves site specific drawings and sculptures. Selected by HIRAMATSU Nobuyuki,Artist. ITO Rina
