I like to play with contradictions with the aim of creating complimentary dissonances within aesthetic systems. Possible intersections of graphic art and “pure” abstract art, abject impressionism and traditional decoration, depictions of Jurassic flora and futurist architectonics etc. all must be resolved within a certain zone. In most cases direct external references are not used and images are developed autonomously and intuitively. These may be visions of a hazy tropical scene where it is perhaps unclear if the setting is densely serene or quietly menacing. Such dramatic uncertainties are preferred over a crystalline clarity or an excessive ambiguity.
