We are very glad to announce to have the first one-person show by Beate Müller titled “Spiegelungen (Reflections)” during above period.

Born in Bergisch Gladbach, Germany in 1965, Beate Müller now resides in Aachen. She studied graphic, first at FH Aachen from 1984 until 1989, and next at the Art Academy in Düsseldorf from 1989 until 1994 to be Meisterschülerin by Prof. Franz Eggenschwiler. While she has been developing her career as a professional graphic designer based on Cologne and Aachen, she kept creating collage works and taking photographs.

Most of the subjects for her photographic works are ordinary objects and scenes can be seen in our daily lives. Passages, hedgerows, parks, gardens, windows of automobiles, trains and houses are her favorites. Also are quiet and deserted sceneries reflected on those windows and the surface of puddles, changing every moment according to weather and light. She usually does not make thorough preparation or consideration about those shooting point, time or season before taking photographs. She rather cuts off decisive scenes she encounters by chance as snapshots.

Her concern is different from those of many other contemporary photographers, who try to document exotic lives, unfamiliar sceneries or sensational events, or who represent images of something related to certain event intending to make viewers recall some stories, or who collect images of certain subject in order to classify them. Although she uses digital cameras, her style is quite orthodox. It is not her way to insist her own originality by adopting any special technique to photograph. She prints the images honestly as they are and never edits nor combine the digitalized images. The way of her framing and installation are also quite conservative.

As we can understand from the fact that she also creates collage works, photography is for her like painting for painter, just a medium to indicate her vision that she is searching in the real world. She is always prepared for the moment when her vision and reality shall appear, carefully looking around her everyday life. At certain time and at certain place, in the qualities of materials, in those constructions and compositions, in colors and light, and in those combinations, they appear and she definitely captures them without fail.

This is the very first one-person show for the artist, and the first show by living photographer for taguchi fine art. On view are photographs mainly from Spiegelungen (Reflections) series. Please come to take a look. We are looking forward to your visit.
