TAKAYAMA has chosen wood as his material since he was in Tama Art University.

In his early works, various figurative wooden objects are installed like a stage setting. Then Takayama moves to solo object that has smooth surface and mythical delicate patterns. For this new exhibition, Takayama moves further;brutal shaves, polished parts and drippy paints are left to show artist's deep and serious attention towards works. They reject the viewer within the strong bond with the artist and cast an ecstatic eye on us.

Opposing to the empathically-communicated derivative alluring wooden sculpture, Takayma's work only allows us to glance the happy unity of the artist and his work. It will be a great opportunity to see Takayama's unique concept of sculpture itself.
