Katsuaki shigeno was graduated from Tokyo National University of Arts and Music in 2003. His expressions range over many subjects such as printing, oil painting, chalcography, lithograph and drawing. Recently he is also committed to providing art pieces for theater and book design. However he always keeps his unique stance as an artist through the variety of activities. Shigeno creates a work by looking back his memories and collaborating evoked images and words to describe a scene which nobody has seen before in reality.

He is an artist inherited the spirit of modern Japanese artists who had strong adoration to French painters in the mid 20th century when Japan was struggling to reconstruct the society after the war. In Shigeno’s dreamy works, there you find seriousness and humor, glorious and misery, happiness and anxiety are all mixed and existed at the same time just like our history itself. That is why his works directory speaks to our hearts regardless of the means he employs. Please visit to the world of rose explored by Shigeno at showcase.
