Opened in 2008 in Kawara-sanjo, Kyoto, as an alternative art space for architecture, “radlab”, is managed by the independent organization RAD (Researching for Architecture and Design). This organisation researches “Architectural Domain”. LABORATORY/radlab aims to expand the areas of architectural ideas, and to express them more freely. RAD “constructs” architectural idea spaces by holding lectures, exhibitions, and events on construction, design, cities, and space. Among the artists that have been exhibited so far are Junko Awatani, Hiroshi Kikuchi, Torafu, and Takashi Suzuki.

“LABORATORY” opened in May 2010. It is managed by directors from outside the art industry and is an attempt to link the arts, with other fields including construction, design, plays??遊び?演劇?, and music, etc. You will be able to attend research and the experiments where the performances and the potential of the place are extracted, open to the public, and recorded.
