A slender green bud of an Easter lily is articulated on the tip of a silver hand clip stuck in the concrete. The theme of this second artwork, which was created after "Botanical Sculpture #1 Assemblage" (February 2008), is "holding" (catching). Although it is already cut off from its stem the bud, captured by a metallic tentacle, blooms due to the water inside each clip.

The Japanese name for the Easter lily is the "firearm lily" because it looks like a blunderbuss. It has a characteristic sharp shape as if it is about to shoot something out. However, the flower, which has a white corolla, is also fragile and weak, in contrast to the image implied by the word, "firearm". Both weak and fragile characteristics are essential elements of the Easter lily, however, Azuma chose to emphasize the former by replacing the stem with a stainless hand clip in order to trim the latter. By folding some of the artificial joints, the corolla seems to roar at viewers like an animal about to pounce. At the same time, it seems lonely, like the floating moon. I do not mean to interpret this impression using ordinary ideas, such as strength having a foundation of loneliness. Azuma exposed the emotion of the flower, which must be the key to releasing "flowers" from their role as objects for decoration.
