Solo exhibition of Saori Miyake who has just won the VOCA 2010 award which is given to an artist producing whose talented is highly expected in a plane work. The exhibited works are five latest plane works by using a technique called “photogram”, one old work, and one installation work. The motif of the latest works is a girl which this artist has been facing for years. The white lines that float on a black background give a feeling of transience. I recommend this exhibition art fans as well as women. The "Photogram" that Miyake uses is a technique that puts a picture the artist drew and small articles on a printing paper, and copies them on it. This technique has an aspect to reconsider the concepts "Photograph" and "Painting", and would also be said that this is an important attempt in the art history. This technique is connected with her concept, and is theoretically established. However, the strongest point of Miyake’s work doesn't stay only in it. If you see her works for the first time, I want you to stand first in front of the works and look at them without considering about the art history. The works firmly contain the things that are not possible to put into a word such as a physical sensibility, memorizes, and a sense of extension of the mysterious space etc. For instance, the line drawing a sheet or a curtain is a sign of the artist’s hand movement drawing an arc, but it also recalls us a touch at the moment of gripping a cloth. The cloth and jewel-like ones printed into the printing paper also remind woman the things she used to have, and then with an own memory. It is a nice and happy area with many restaurants to top on the way of your spring day. This gallery also sells art-related books and the goods that make popular artists’ work motif. It is enjoyable to see them and unquestionable for a chat with the person you go with. It is possible to see other works for sales if you ask the gallery.
