Yuji ICHIKAWA: Focusing on a new generation in Tokyo 2009

The “amorphous” (4016×4016mm, 2009) which Ichikawa announces in this exhibition, is composed by several layers produced by combining transparent acrylic sheets as the support medium, drawing the both front sides with mineral pigments, and also covering inside the acrylic sheets with Japanese paper. It is also another feature that, though a square plane work, it is possible partially to bend and when exhibiting, is independently stood like a solid work (however, this work inclines the part of the center to the gallery wall). The brush stroke seems organic like the movement of water, as if seeing the symbol of the life wriggling in the limited shape.
