Kanako Ohya was born and raised in Kanagawa,Japan. She received B.A. degree in Painting from Tokyo Zokei University in 2006 and M.A. degree from Tokyo University of the Arts in 2008. She was awarded a grand prize from The Gumma Biennale for Young Artists in 2008.
She exhibited her works at “Oxidized Reality- 7 Artists from The Gumma Biennale for Young Artists-” / Museum of Modern Art, Gumma in 2010. “I focus attention on the fragility of ambiguous presence of fiction and reality when I painting”, she says. 10 new paintings will be exhibited at this exhibition.
