The first solo exhibition by Tatsuya Maruyama (b. 1977) in this gallery, who shows his sculpture works. Tatsuya Maruyama was born in Saitama prefecture. He graduated from Meisei University, Department of Japanese and Comparative Culture, after that he received “Uwamuki prize” at Shinsei-ten. This is the first time he has solo exhibition at Shinseido. The main motif of his sculptures is animals and insects, he makes these works very real, even a small foots and so on. However, the characteristic of his works is that he changes some part of these bodies to something else such as tires or lumps…, because of he likes making works by fusing living thing with objects. In this exhibition, he made sculptures of animals which become racers to express “life” through his works. * The text provided by SHINSEIDO HATANAKA.
