Asako will show nearly 40 recent photographs in color taken in 2008-2009 together with 14 black-and-white photographs from the series, 'Haru wa akebono [Dawn in Spring],' 1989. 'Haru wa akebono [Dawn in Spring]' is the Asako's first series of work exhibited in 1989 at a private gallery in Tokyo. Throughout the 1990s, Asako has been concentrating on black-and-white photographs, and this series is certainly a starting point of her career as a photographer. After 20 years from the first showing, these photographs will be exhibited with her most recent works in color. The recent works in this exhibition were all photographed in the places outside of Japan, including in Dubai, Danshui (Taiwan), Creteil (a suburb of Paris), Brooklyn, Cologne, Jindo (South Korea) and others. It can be said that they are an 'overseas version' of the 'half awake and half asleep in the water' series. The show also includes the 20 photographs of the cityscapes in color taken in Dubai in 2009. Not only at the ocassions of her exhibitions held in New York and Cologne, she had many trips abroad in last two years. She went to Dubai for the first time in January 2009. Before leaving Tokyo, she intended on taking photographs mostly at the coastlines, but being so attracted by this city of the Middle East, Asako took many photographs on the city streets, and the Dubai cityscpaes became the important images for this exhibition, 'Coming Closer and Getting Further Away.' * The text provided by Osiris Co., Ltd.

The latest works of Narahashi’s first solo exhibition “Haru-wa-akebono” series (1989) and “half awake and half asleep in the water” series (2009), and some photographs of cityscapes are exhibited in this concrete space designed by Tadao Ando. The two photograph series exhibited at intervals of 20 years each other shows the difference of the cityscape over the time as if "approaching and then going away" in this open-ceiling space of two stories. The cityscape photograph “half awake and half asleep in the water” exhibited in parallel on the first floor wall is especially impressive at the image of water eroding to the city and drifting.
