Yuri Hosho Exhibition ”Color, Form, Libido”

From exhibition works

‘In the clashing of colous and forms in the paintings, I am reminded of the crystalline nature of the stone, the condensation of matters over a long period of time. I cherish the fact that things exist in advance of their usefulness, just as I remember that a sand is not a clock to measure time but once a dust of the universe.’

Yuri Hosho has built her own expression by throwing herself onto the canvas, clad in paints, in response to the question of who she really is. The ripples created by this initial shock eventually spread over as a reverberation deep within the crystalline substance of colours and forms. Following the development of her predecessors’ abstract paintings, Housho continues to try to give density of existence to the events on the canvas and to develop them into autonomous paintings that can create time and space in the viewers’ consciousness.
