"Gardentree" 2020, 50.x40.0cm

We are pleased to present "Life," a solo exhibition by Ai Tanaka, starting on September 24.
Large grained rock paints do not mix completely, even when mixed, but remain in a state where each grain of color can be recognized. Tanaka, who uses these grains to create his works, draws the motif of "things other than ourselves" that exist in our daily lives, overlaying our daily interactions with others, influencing each other, yet remaining unchanged, on the way they stand next to each other at an extremely close distance without mixing.
In the first period titled "Life," she tries to capture the unchanging gestures of our daily lives in the midst of the changes in our daily lives. The paintings' tranquility and serenity, which could be considered sacred in some respects, yet with their solidly entrenched color particles on the surface, reveal the essence of life in the midst of daily life's vicissitudes.
We hope that you will find this exhibition, which will unfold over two long periods of time, to be a bit of a journey into the future.
