‘Focusing on a new generation in Tokyo’ is an annual cosponsored project hold by eight contemporary art galleries centering around Ginza and Kyobashi. Each gallery has chosen a young artist and holds a solo exhibition at the same time.

This time Gallery K has chosen an artist Josephine H. N. Lui from Hong Kong. Lui is inspired by forms of all sorts of living creatures. She creatively expresses the relationships between human life and nature, and also the philosophical ideas that each one is holding the whole universe within one’s self. At first sight her work seems to have some kind of calmness, yet it also gives a tense pressure that holds emotional elements such as aggression, desire and solitude.
