‘Syuumyou no Mon – What human beings will carry into the next generation after reborning from this collapse – Part1’

The title ‘Syuumyou no Mon’ is the words of Laozi (Chinese philosopher). Living or non-living unknown mysterious creature is threatening our civilization fundamentally, and we are facing some sort of absurdity which cannot be solved by usual ways of defeating social problems. Art is going to be asked for its role, responsibility and possibility especially in this difficult time.

Each of these 9 artists from Nobuhiko Utsumi Painting Expression Laboratory - some almost half a century difference in age- intends to use their various specialised field. They are inspired by this idea of Laozi that ‘everything becomes from the slightest beginning and starts from the vast’ and search for the possibilities of art as an ideological expression going back to their zero point once again.
