Urasaki Mikio Exhibition ”Water Surface 2”
Events
Published: March 29 2020

One of exhibition works

What Urasaki captures as his objects in his work are the very familiar scenes in his everyday life. However his paintings’ realistic descriptions by his cold and stern touch and the layers of decalcomania that dares to rejects our drawing eyes give the objects mysterious presence and bring in us wavering feels.
Continuing from the last ‘Minamo’ series he draws what he sees every day from the top of a bridge, scenery of the surface of an agricultural water channel. Flowing water, the bottom of the channel and other things and the sky that reflect on the surface of the waterg. These things have wavering relationships and their shapes appear and disappear. What actually are these things we are facing? For Urasaki, to ‘look’ and ‘draw’ means to search for the nature of these things.
