Galerie Tokyo Humanité is pleased to present SHIMOHIRA Tomoaki's first solo exhibition in Tokyo. Shimohira makes human sculptures that capture emotional moments, such as mixed feelings of anticipation and anxiety, that everyone has gone through. Carved carefully and smoothly, the beauty of the stone is prominent in his sculptures which make us forget weight and hardness of marble.

Shimohira (b. 1978) received his M.A. in Sculpture from Aichi University of the Arts in Japan in 2003. He was awarded the Grand Prize of Oita Asian Sculpture Exhibition in 2016 and the Gold Award of Kajima Sculpture Competition in 2018.
