Galerie Tokyo Humanité is pleased to announce IIJIMA Momoyo's solo exhibition entitled Disease and Healing --The Tale of the Hare of Inaba as the Initiation Ceremony. The Hare of Inaba is a story of a white hare appeared in the Kojiki, Japan's oldest historical record. The hare deceives crocodiles into being used as a bridge in order to travel across the sea. The angry crocodile rips his fur from him, and the hare suffers in great pain until a tender-hearted god teaches him a remedy. After his recovery, the hare turns into a god.
Iijima interprets the Hare of Inaba as a story of disease and healing and creates installation work consisting of objects and video.

Iijima (b. 1982) studied sculpture in Joshibi University of Art and Design and received her PhD in art in 2011. Her recent exhibition history includes solo exhibitions in gallery αM (2014, Tokyo), Shiseido Gallery (2015, Tokyo), and group exhibition FINE ART / UNIVERSITY SELECTIONxSELECTION (2016, O Art Museum, Tokyo).
