「H-163」 2016 Ceramic 216×211×44cm

Galerie Tokyo Humanité is pleased to present Trace of Smoke, an exhibition of INOUE Masayuki's ceramic sculptures. Inoue uses the technique to build up a large sculpture by assembling smaller ceramic parts with bolts. In this exhibition, Inoue's interest in smoke and capturing its changing shape made him create the tallest sculpture, 2.3m high, ever exhibited indoors.
Inoue (b. 1957) earned a master's degree at Tama Art University in Tokyo in 1985 and now serves as a professor of ceramics. His sculptures are collected by numerous museums including The National Museum of Modern Art (Tokyo), Princessehof National Museum of Ceramics (the Netherlands), Victoria and Albert Museum (London), among others.
