Opened in Azabu-Juban in 2007 and then moved to Minami-Azabu in 2008, Gallery Strenger is a contemporary art gallery whose German owner has lived in Japan for a long time. Its strong network with overseas galleries makes it very effective in introducing international artists who are not yet known in Japan. Gallery Strenger mainly introduces European contemporary artists to Japan but has recently also started presenting young domestic artists. The present gallery space is a remodeled boutique, and its high 3m ceiling and the interior that is viewable from the street warmly invite us to come in. Among the represented artists are Ornella BARATTI BON, Myriam EYKENS, Laima EGLITE, Josiane GRANDIN, Juan Li JIA, Youhei SUGITA, WANG Gang, Ryoichi YAMAZAKI, SON Bong-Chae, Etiye Dimma POULSEN, Silke SCHOENER, Jacqueline DEVREUX, Agne JONKUTE, Natsuko UNO, Vidas BIVEINIS, Barbara FLATTEN and JOO Dae-Hee.
