MURAI Shingo "Resealing 1601" 2016 Black granite 30.7x80.5x121cm photo by Tadasu Yamamoto

Galerie Tokyo Humanité is pleased to announce a solo exhibition of MURAI Shingo entitled Resealing, showcasing his new works including a large stone sculpture over 1m long. This is his first solo exhibition in two years in our gallery.
"Resealing" is a new series of artworks following "Black Solid" series in which Murai carves the surface of granite according to a grid pattern. In the new series, Murai leaves no trace of carving on the surface and seeks to restore the true form of stone.
Murai was born in 1952 and currently serves as a professor of sculpture at Tama Art University. His solo exhibition is also held in Contemporary Art Museum Ise in Mie, Japan until November 27. http://www.ise-muse.com/exhibit/ex1.html
