We Japanese originally has valued living with nature very much. We always sensed the turn of the seasons feeling every small change in nature, cherished those moments to realize that we are living, and therefore time passed very slowly. But now, the speed of the information-intensive and competitive society is driving us to fatigue and irritation, and conners some of us in disappointment. Thus losing the life with nature is the reason that some people lose way of humanity and cause accidents or commit crimes, isn't it ?

Thinking in this way, Zeniya Kodai features in his art works the theme of the gap between the speed of the contemporary society and the flow of the natural world and tries to rediscover the joy of living. To express it in his paintings, he has taken the way of mixing abstractive composition and intuitive action. In recent works he lays various colors over and over as he feels the flow of nature, and develops the dynamic image where we can see the lights flicker in the heap of the colors with solid feel of the material of paints.
