Artist Statement

We are in a world surrounded by life forms and non-life forms, and we live our lives with all things entangled with each other. In reality, with the development of information technology and industrial machinery, the individual has become disconnected and the sense towards one's surroundings has diminished. In this age I have studied the relationship beyond "dominance and submissiveness" among animals and humans, and by creating works which also unify their surroundings, I have sought to recover the lost relationship between all things and humans.

In this exhibition, as a part of our surroundings, I have used a cabinet and a dress as one of the media. Being aware that humans are a part of this entangled world could help reconsider the problems people face today such as disconnection and isolation. The problem of wars and ecological destruction due to modern anthropocentric values and reasoning remain unsolved. I believe it is necessary to express a new relationship between animals and humans, and that their surroundings are also a part of the entanglement. I believe that this could enable us to comprehensively shift our views of the world we live in and broaden our perspective on how we see it.
