“MAM Project 009” presents Koizumi Meiro (born 1976), an up and coming young artist, who works predominantly with the medium of video. Koizumi's recent works tend to capture dialogues between the artist and the characters or scenes where the artist gives directions to the actors telling stories. They cover such topics as memories of childhood shared with their mothers and trauma resulting from the breakup of relationships. Sometimes comical and at other times violent, the stories depict emotions such as passion, rapture and anger while at the same time seeking to explore the fundaments of psychological states underlying those emotions. One could call these unique creations “dramas of humor and incongruity.” In this first solo museum exhibition of Koizumi's, two works will be shown, one of which is made especially for this exhibition. Don't miss this opportunity to experience the creative talents of this internationally active artist in his home country. * The text provided by MORI ART MUSEUM.
