Kaai Tsuji:Pulpy Tentacles

We are delighted to be showing the work of Kaai Tsuji in her solo exhibition ‘Pulpy Tentacles’ at WISH LESS gallery in Tokyo.
I fell in love with the work of Kaai the moment I set eyes on it.
Standing in front of her paintings is a mesmerising experience. At first glance they appear to be exquisitely painted snapshots of everyday life, then gradually smaller motifs start to appear ,’visual breadcrumbs’ that lead you to a second sometimes unsettling narrative, giving her work a somewhat cinematic quality. The whole experience reminds me of watching a well-worn VHS copy of your favourite film and pausing it at a familiar scene and advancing the tape frame-by-frame until you discover a previously hidden visual element that makes your heart skip a beat.
Come to WISH LESS gallery in Tabata,Tokyo this June 7th-29th and get lost in the mesmeric vision of this young Japanese painter.
